If a company’s revenue is 10m and they get 1m in donations, they can write off the Hey you guys what’s with chuckie chucky shirt but in fact I love this 1m. The other 10m is still taxed just the same. If the company does 10m and doesn’t collect/make any donations they’re in exactly the same place, only they didnt have incur any of the overhead costs/effort to collect and donate the extra million. Their benefit (because obviously most companies wouldn’t do somehitng like this if there was no benefit) is that every year they get to say ‘look at all this money we collected for charity!’. They also don’t just directly donate the money right at the time you hand it over, they invest it or let it acrue interest in some other means, then donate it in one big chunk at a later date and profit off of the money that way too. In most cases too, majority of the donated money does not go to the org. The store keeps most and a percentage is contributed

On top of that, they can write it off on their taxes & you cannot. Which is why I NEVER donate. If I ever choose to I do so personally, not through a 3rd party or whatever corporation. If it’s shown on a receipt you are still able to, but that’s just from my understanding. If im wrong I’m wrong. a lot of times the Hey you guys what’s with chuckie chucky shirt but in fact I love this charity give about 2 cents from every dollar they get which makes no sense. im not 100% correct but im saying they take most of the money for their organization As someone who works at one of these companies. Upper management puts pressure on each store to hit a target during the campaign. I’ve had store managers put in their own money to make sure we hit our “goal”. So so silly Companies should be forced to make public on all PR what % of “their” donations are actually just funneling from customers. Io front, not buried and listed on every single ad and commercial They do that because they can claim that they’re donating which allows them tax write offs. Every time you donate through a company you’re just giving them free money They ARE donating to end child hunger. They’re donating YOUR money and taking the tax credit associated with it! To top it off, every dollar you donate is one less tax dollar they have to pay. So even if they do technically donate the money to a charity, your increasing their profits by paying their taxes for them…
